Several hundred residents of Dolores (Alicante) observed a minute of silence this Saturday, called by the town hall to express their grief over the alleged misogynistic murder that occurred in a home at the Civil Guard barracks.

The event, presided over by the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, along with other local and Civil Guard authorities, took place outside the municipal building. This act of condemnation against the crime, which claimed the lives of Marisol, 51, and Alberto, 24, allegedly at the hands of her husband and father respectively, followed an extraordinary council meeting.
During the meeting, the thirteen councillors supported a manifesto read by the mayor, Joaquín Hernández, to convey sorrow and solidarity with those affected. Hernández recalled that the family had resided in Dolores since 1996 and was well-known, as the murdered woman worked as a school bus driver, a fact that has caused astonishment and shock among the residents.
As a consequence of these "terrible events," the town hall of Dolores, located in the south of Alicante province, has declared three days of official mourning and suspended all festive activities scheduled for this weekend.
