The committee of the Valencian Parliament investigating the alleged irregularities in the allocation of public housing (VPO) in the Les Naus residential area of Alicante has scheduled three hearing sessions for July. These sessions will take place on July 2, 8, and 23.
As explained by Vox spokesperson José María Llanos, whose party chairs the committee, a meeting for the first six hearings had already been set for July 2. With the extension of the session period until July 31, two additional meetings have been scheduled to continue the work plan.
Llanos expressed the committee's interest in ensuring the investigation "is not delayed," which includes a total of 80 appearances. He also lamented that the Alicante City Council has not yet provided the documentation requested by the Parliament.
The creation of this committee was approved on February 19 at the proposal of Vox and was constituted on March 5. The work plan, including the list of documents and individuals to appear, was approved on May 22, agreeing to summon, among others, the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, and regional housing officials, but not the titular minister.
For the first session on July 2, former Alicante mayor Gabriel Echávarri, former deputy mayor and urban planning councilor Miguel Ángel Pavón, former second deputy mayor Natxo Bellido, and former finance councilor Sofía Morales are summoned for the morning. In the afternoon, the finance councilor between 2023 and 2025, Antonio Gallego, and the head of the technical works department, Antonio Faura Díez, are scheduled to appear.
