The official, who replaces Alicia Garijo after her retirement, will be responsible for implementing the IVC's policies in the territorial scope of Alicante and ensuring proper cultural management tailored to the province's specificities. She will also act as a liaison with the deputy directorates and general sub-directorates to coordinate programmed activities in the Alicante territory.
Her responsibilities include coordinating the Teatre Arniches and the Fresca! Performing Arts Festival of Alicante, which recently began promoting its 2026 edition. The new delegate will also participate in fostering initiatives for the creation and retention of cultural audiences.
Ana Bonmatí is a career civil servant from the Senior Technical Scale of Cultural and Heritage Management at the Universitat de València (UV). Her career as a cultural manager dates back to 2006, and she has held significant responsibilities in various institutions. Until her recent appointment, she was head of the University Culture Service at the Universitat de València, a period marked by achievements such as obtaining the European Heritage Label for the Centre Cultural La Nau in March 2026.
Her experience includes directing cultural centers and projects, such as the Cultural Management Directorate of the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Society at the Universitat de València between 2016 and 2024, and directing the Colegio Mayor Rector Peset between 2014 and 2016. Additionally, she is co-director of the PERMEA Cultural Mediation Master's program at the Consorcio de Museos de la Comunidad Valenciana and a collaborating lecturer in the UV's Cultural Heritage Master's program. In 2017, she created ART I MENT, a social intervention project that uses artistic practice as a cognitive tool for vulnerable groups.
