The event, held at the Gran Teatre, was presided over by the mayor, Pablo Ruz, accompanied by the councilor for the area, Irene Ruíz. The municipal contribution represents the highest figure to date for these types of cultural agreements, aiming to strengthen support for entities engaged in cultural, heritage, musical, educational, and artistic activities in the city.
Among the most notable agreements are the 190,000 euros allocated to the Patronato del Misteri d’Elx and the same amount for the Proyecto Puçol and the Casa-Museo Hort dels Pontos. Additionally, the Fundación Cidaris receives 50,000 euros for the management of the Elche Paleontological Museum (MUPE).
“"Public money is for investing in culture"
During the event, the mayor emphasized that "public money is for investing in culture" and thanked the city's cultural entities for their work. He noted that the City Council, as a municipal institution, must continue to help "create culture." He also highlighted the social value of these grants, stating that "in such a complicated world, where everything seems to dissolve, investing in culture is investing in hope."
The agreements cover diverse areas of Elche's cultural activity. They include agreements with the Real Orden de la Dama de Elche, the Societat Musical Banda de Música de La Marina, the Unió Musical de Torrellano, the Cine Club Luis Buñuel, the Associació de Teatre Escolar d’Elx, the Fundació Universitària l’Alcúdia, and various chairs linked to the Miguel Hernández University.
Collaborations are also included to promote activities such as the Festival de Guitarra Ciutat d’Elx, the Premio Vicente Verdú de Periodismo e Innovación, stage initiatives, musical projects, archaeological research actions, and activities of general interest at the La Alcudia archaeological site.
