In both interventions, the dog Kata, specialized in drug detection, was crucial in locating the narcotics. The operations culminated in the arrest of two men traveling on buses from the line connecting Barcelona to Almería.
A notable aspect of these operations is the discovery of 'tusi' or pink cocaine, a synthetic drug that combines various stimulant substances. The first intervention took place on Wednesday, April 8, during a routine inspection of a bus making a stop at the station, located on Loring Avenue.
In this first action, Kata indicated a 46-year-old passenger, a resident of Barcelona, pointing to both his genital area and a backpack he was carrying. After being taken to a station facility, officers found several packages in his backpack containing 5.42 grams of 'tusi' and 5.90 grams of marijuana. Subsequently, a more thorough search at police headquarters uncovered two more packages hidden in his underwear, camouflaged with ground coffee remains, totaling 103 grams of cocaine and 21.4 grams of 'tusi'. The man was placed at judicial disposal for an alleged drug trafficking offense.
The second operation occurred on Thursday on another bus of the same route. On this occasion, a 28-year-old man, also a resident of Barcelona, was arrested after being identified by Kata. Officers seized 72.7 grams of pink cocaine from him, hidden in an inner pocket of his sweatshirt and in a sock inside his backpack. Additionally, 535 euros in cash, distributed in various denominations, were confiscated.
These operations are part of the regular controls carried out by the Local Police at strategic transport points, with the aim of preventing drug trafficking and enhancing public safety in Alicante.
