Alicante Showcases Rice Gastronomy at Madrid's Salón Gourmets for the First Time

Councillor for Hospitality, Lidia López, leads the delegation promoting Alicante's rice dishes at the prestigious international fair.

The Alicante City Council is participating for the first time in the prestigious Salón Gourmets in Madrid, one of Europe's most important gastronomic fairs, held from April 13 to 16 at IFEMA.

The Councillor for Hospitality, Lidia López, is leading the Alicante delegation with the aim of meeting sector agents and institutions, and participating in a presentation and showcooking organized in collaboration with the Dársena restaurant.
The Department of Hospitality and Commerce has prepared a special presentation for this professional event. It will take place next Monday on the “El Rincón del Arroz” stage of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Livestock and Fisheries, where Alicante rice will be the main focus.
The master rice chef from Dársena restaurant, Manuel del Amo, along with Cristina San Juan, manager and director of the Alicante Rice Symposium, will explain and prepare a traditional ‘Creamy Rice with Shrimp and Squid’, followed by a tasting for attendees.

The Alicante delegation will focus on promoting rice as a key element reflecting the excellence of Mediterranean seafood products. The presentation will also delve into the history of this ingredient and its cooking techniques. During the event, Councillor López and the municipal technicians will take the opportunity to establish contacts with professionals from the gastronomic and hospitality sectors at national and international levels.
