The Alicante City Council has initially approved the preliminary project for the renovation of the Montañeta Square underground car park and the tender for its new concession, which will last 15 years with an estimated fee of 8.5 million euros.

The Governing Board has given its approval to this document, which will now be subject to public information for one month before proceeding with the pre-tender procedures. The project includes the comprehensive renovation of both the car park and the square located above the facility, in the heart of Alicante's urban center.
The economic-financial feasibility study has completed its public exhibition period without objections. The pronouncement of the relevant bodies of the Generalitat Valenciana is now pending, including, where applicable, that related to the environmental impact study.

"The City Council continues to take steps forward to be able to tender this action with the approval of the feasibility study and the submission of the preliminary project for public information, as preliminary steps to its tender through public competition."

the Urban Mobility Councillor
The municipal official explained that the characteristics of the service and the municipal structure necessitate indirect management through a concessionaire. A 15-year concession is proposed with a fee of over 8.5 million euros, including public works to renovate the structure, the car park's finishes, and the square above its roof.
The car park, which reverts to the City Council at the end of the current concession, is in good condition. However, its location in an area of high commercial and service pressure, with around 30,000 vehicle entries per month, makes intervention necessary. The renovation includes work on pavements, waterproofing, lighting, accessibility, and complementary facilities.
Additionally, the project includes improvements to the square, with interventions on the skylight, pergola, and fountain to eliminate leaks. A children's play area and new paving will also be incorporated to improve the connection with the facade of the Treasury building and the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Gracia.
