The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow warning for rain and storms affecting much of Alicante province on Sunday, April 12. Accumulations of up to 20 mm per hour are expected, especially towards the end of the day.
In the capital, Alicante, skies will be very cloudy from the morning, with rain gradually increasing in intensity. Temperatures will range between a minimum of 12 ºC and a maximum of 20 ºC, with northerly winds enhancing the cold sensation.
Other towns such as Elche and Benidorm will also experience a rainy day, with closed skies and intermittent showers. In Elche, temperatures will remain between 12 ºC and 20 ºC, while in Benidorm the maximum will not exceed 19 ºC.
The interior of the province, like Elda, will suffer a more pronounced temperature drop, with lows of 11 ºC and highs of 17 ºC, and a risk of strong storms. In the Vega Baja region, Torrevieja and Orihuela also expect rain, with mud present in the first precipitations in Torrevieja and locally heavy rains in Orihuela from 9:00 PM.
Finally, in Alcoy, the weather will be wintry with temperatures between 8 ºC and 14 ºC, and in Dénia, in the Marina Alta, showers are expected from midday with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 11 ºC to a maximum of 18 ºC.
