The Alicante City Council is participating for the first time in the prestigious Salón Gourmets in Madrid, one of Europe's most important gastronomic events, to promote its cuisine with rice as a central element.
The Councillor for Hospitality, Lidia López, is traveling to the Spanish capital to meet with industry agents and institutions, and to attend a presentation and showcooking organized in collaboration with Dársena restaurant. This initiative, taking place from April 13 to 16 at IFEMA, aims to showcase Alicante's rich culinary heritage.
The Department of Hospitality and Commerce has prepared a special presentation for Monday, within the 'El Rincón del Arroz' stage of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Livestock and Fisheries. The event will feature an Alicante rice dish as the main course, with the participation of Dársena restaurant's master rice chef, Manuel del Amo, and Cristina San Juan, manager and director of the Alicante Rice Symposium.
During the presentation, a traditional 'Arroz Meloso de gambeta y calamar' (creamy rice with shrimp and squid) will be explained and prepared, followed by a tasting. The Alicante delegation will focus on promoting rice as a reflection of the excellence of Mediterranean Sea products, disseminating its history and cooking techniques.
