The council has delivered the statutes to municipal groups to encourage participation in this project, which aims to be a city-wide initiative rather than just for the festival community. The goal is to involve all citizens in celebrating the first hundred years of history of this festival, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage and Festival of International Tourist Interest.
The new entity will be attached to the Festivities department and will feature an executive commission led by a renowned expert in the festival world. On June 17, an extraordinary plenary session will be held to approve the statutes and the budget modification necessary to effectively launch the service.
“"We want this to be a city foundation, not just for the festival world, so that all citizens can participate and get involved in the celebration of the first hundred years of our Festa."
The foundation's board of trustees will be chaired by the mayor and will include representatives from all political groups, the Federation of Hogueras de San Juan, former festival presidents, and members of the artists' guild. The intention is for the structure to be solid and transparent to project Alicante's cultural and tourist image on a national and international scale.
