The Housing Councilor, Carlos de Juan, highlighted the initiative as strategic for guaranteeing access to dignified housing and revitalizing the city's real estate market.

"This El Claustro affordable rental program constitutes a strategic municipal initiative to guarantee access to dignified housing at an affordable rent for citizens, which also allows putting vacant homes into use, contributing to the revitalization of Alicante's real estate stock while promoting the social and economic integration of beneficiaries."

The program not only acts as an intermediary but also offers free legal advice, social support, rental aid management, conflict mediation, and support for municipal housing stock management. Furthermore, the Alicante Housing Observatory of the Municipal Housing Board constantly monitors the free rental market to adjust rents and keep them 46% below the market price, which is around 1,100 euros.
In the last two years, the program has provided 1,951 consultations, with a 221% increase in 2025 compared to the previous year, and 7,514 mediations. This preventive and supportive work is complemented by its presence on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, where it boasts 1,153 followers and an average rating of 5 stars, demonstrating beneficiary satisfaction.
