The Alicante Local Police seized 750 counterfeit items, primarily football jerseys and brand-name bags, during an operation against illegal street vending conducted last Sunday at El Postiguet beach.

This action, which involved 16 officers and three commanders from the Fox, USR, and Gruma units, is part of an intensified surveillance effort against unauthorized sales. This intervention follows a similar one carried out last March along the city's coastline, where 400 counterfeit items were intercepted.

"We have intensified surveillance against illegal sales during the past Easter Week, given the large influx of people who have arrived in Alicante; and who have concentrated especially on El Postiguet beach and the entire coastline."

Julio Calero · Councillor for Security
The Councillor for Security, Julio Calero, highlighted that these types of operations are routine and were already reinforced last summer in high-traffic areas such as the Explanada, Paseo de Gómiz, Plaza de la Puerta del Mar, and Paseo de los Mártires de la Libertad. He also emphasized the coordination between the Local Police and the Port Police to ensure maximum effectiveness in these operations.
Calero stressed the need to enforce the public thoroughfare occupation ordinance and combat non-sedentary street vending, which is often associated with counterfeiting and industrial property crimes. He announced that surveillance efforts will be maintained and intensified in the coming weeks, anticipating the arrival of the high summer season and the corresponding increase in tourists and visitors.
