The city of Alicante is finalizing preparations for the Santa Faz Pilgrimage, which includes changes to the departure point of the procession and the celebration of the seventh edition of the alternative Santa Faz 0.0 festival at San Juan Beach.

The spokesperson for the government team and Festival Councilor, Cristina Cutanda, announced that this Thursday's, April 16, Pilgrimage will start from the Black Door of the Co-cathedral of San Nicolás. This change, adopted for security reasons, means that access to the temple will be restricted to the main door in Abad Penalva Square.
Additionally, ornamental tapestries will be placed at the start of the route to commemorate the 537th anniversary of the so-called «miracle of the tear», the origin of the traditional Pilgrimage. This Wednesday, the canes that will be distributed among participants during Thursday morning will be collected.
In parallel, the seventh edition of Santa Faz 0.0 will take place, a healthy leisure festival for young people at San Juan Beach. The event will be held on Niza Avenue, 16, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering activities such as sports, workshops, 360º photocall, virtual reality, arcade games, music, raffles, and gifts. A Violet Point will also be set up.

"Participate in this healthy festival that offers a multitude of leisure and sports options and that will demonstrate, once again, that youth knows how to have fun without alcohol on such a significant date."

Begoña León · Councilor for Social Welfare
The festival, enlivened by a speaker, will include proposals for young people and families, such as virtual reality simulators, arcade games, and children's workshops. The Alicante Local Police will conduct voluntary breathalyzer tests, and participants with 0.0 will receive a ticket for gift raffles thanks to collaborations with companies such as Mercalicante, Coca Cola, and Carrefour. 1,000 fabric bracelets, 300 t-shirts, 500 caps, and 250 balls will be distributed.
Regarding the recognition of Santa Faz as an Intangible Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), the file is practically complete after the favorable report from the Valencian Council of Culture (CVC) in January. The agreement is pending approval by the Consell, according to Cutanda, awaiting imminent validation.
