Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has continued its trend of surpassing its own records, achieving a new historic high for the month of March with a total of 1,609,368 passengers. This increase represents a 9.1% rise in travelers compared to the same month in 2025, just before the start of the summer season.
With these figures, the airport has accumulated 6.6% growth in the first quarter of the year (January, February, and March) compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 3,945,150 passengers. This volume represents almost a fifth of the total travelers recorded in 2025, which was 19.9 million.
The international market has been the main driver of this growth, with an 11.2% increase and 1,417,924 passengers in March. In contrast, domestic traffic recorded 191,006 travelers, a decrease of 4.5%. The countries with the highest international traffic were the United Kingdom (536,966 travelers), Germany (105,409), the Netherlands (103,575), Poland (97,995), and Belgium (85,961).
In March, a total of 10,097 flight movements were managed, a 7.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. In the first quarter, operated flights totaled 25,620 movements, 6.3% more than the previous year. Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has positioned itself as the fourth busiest airport in the national network, only behind Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga, surpassing Palma, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife South.
The growth of the Alicante airport exceeds the average of Spanish airports managed by Aena, which in March 2026 recorded a 4.3% increase in passengers. First-quarter traffic has benefited from the transfer of passengers from rail transport and the Easter holiday calendar, which this year was celebrated between March and April.
