This new contract has allowed work to be carried out on streets and squares throughout the city, aiming to improve urban spaces and pedestrian accessibility. The Councillor for Infrastructure, Cristina García, highlighted the agility and speed in responding to urgent public road needs.
“"We are working hard to reach all neighborhoods and have gained speed and agility in responding to urgent needs that arise on public roads."
The councillor also clarified the controversy regarding the replacement of tiles with cement patches. She explained that the patches referred to in some accusations do not correspond to actions under the sidewalk contract, but rather to water connection repairs carried out by homeowner communities, which have already been requested to restore the pavement to its original state.
The operations have been carried out on 80 streets in various areas of the city, including the Center, Rabasa, Playa San Juan, Albufereta, Benalúa, San Blas, Ciudad Jardín, Altozano, Zona Norte, El Pla, Campoamor, and La Goteta.
The service is covered by a mixed works and service contract valued at eight million euros. This contract is intended for rectifying deficiencies in sidewalks, plaza pavements, and public spaces, as well as improving basic accessibility conditions.
The concessionaire company, Acsa, has incorporated seven electric vehicles equipped with the necessary materials to work simultaneously in different areas. These vehicles and power units are electric, which minimizes noise and contributes to environmental protection.
