The Alicante Provincial Council has approved an investment of over 4.2 million euros for the improvement of the provincial road network, with actions planned for 2026 and 2027 aimed at enhancing safety and sustainable mobility.

The plenary session of the provincial institution unanimously approved three key programs: the Provincial Road Network Improvement Plan 2026-2027, the Pedestrian and Cyclist Mobility Plan, and the Municipal Access Improvement Plan. These initiatives will allow interventions on various roads and strategic points throughout the Alicante territory.
The bulk of the funds, over 3.4 million euros, will be allocated to the Provincial Road Network Improvement Plan. This plan will focus on seven specific roads, where work will be carried out to reinforce road surfaces, improve pavements, and optimize layouts. Among the affected roads are the CV-795 between Alcoi and Banyeres de Mariola, the CV-798 between Ibi and Tibi, and the CV-740 between Poble Nou de Benitatxell and Xàbia.
Other actions include reinforcing the road surface on the CV-745 between Xaló and La Fustera, intervention on the Camino de La Cansalada from Xàbia (CV-747), improving road safety on the CV-723 between Dénia and Avesana, and reinforcing the road surface on the CV-752 between San Miguel de Salinas and Casas de Rabate. These interventions are based on technical criteria for pavement rehabilitation and reducing future maintenance needs.
The Pedestrian and Cyclist Mobility Plan will receive an investment of 792,526 euros to improve the safety of vulnerable users. Highlights include safety improvements on the CV-819 in the Tánger-Montnegre section, the drafting of a cycle-pedestrian path project between Calp and Moraira (CV-746), and the improvement of the pedestrian route at the access to L'Orxa (CV-701) and in Orxeta (CV-770).
Finally, the Municipal Access Improvement Plan, with 43,000 euros, includes the drafting of projects for new roundabouts that will optimize local connectivity. These include roundabouts on the CV-857 in Puçol de Elche, on the CV-735 at the intersection with the Camino Cementerio in Dénia, and on the CV-849 at the intersection with the Camino Viejo de Alicante in Elche. Through these actions, the Alicante Provincial Council aims to improve road safety, promote sustainable mobility, and strengthen the connection between the municipalities of the province.
