The Ministry of Education and teacher unions have entered their fifth meeting to resolve the labor conflict that has marked recent weeks in the Valencian Community. Following 11 days of indefinite strike and large-scale mobilizations, two of the unions present at the negotiation table, CSIF and ANPE, have decided to accept the 200-euro salary increase proposal put forward by the Valencian government.
The meeting, which began with optimism, first addressed student-to-teacher ratios. The Ministry proposed setting 22 students in Infant and Primary education and 25 in ESO, with a commitment to reduce them regardless of state law. The regional secretary, Daniel McEvoy, agreed to calendarize the proposal and lower the number of students per UECO classroom, although without specifying budget allocations. Reductions for non-compulsory education would be discussed at a separate table.
The second point concerned the increase in remuneration. The regional administration referred to its latest offer: 200 euros distributed over three installments between 2026 and 2028 (75 euros this year, 75 in 2027, and 50 euros subject to review in 2028). In contrast, the unified proposal from STEPV, CCOO, and UGT includes a 20% increase linked to the CPI to recover lost purchasing power, as well as the payment of regional supplements and the restoration of cut extra payments.
While STEPV, CCOO, and UGT maintain their rejection of the economic offer and have left the meeting, CSIF and ANPE have accepted the proposal. Negotiations are set to continue on Tuesday at 4 PM.
