The town of Morella will host the 15th edition of the Early Music Morella festival, taking place from July 17-23, featuring 14 concerts and various cultural activities in heritage sites under the theme 'Virtus'.

The cultural event, organized by the Cultural Association Comes and the CdM Cultural Foundation, holds the EFFE (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) quality label and aims to boost its internationalization. The festival will showcase prestigious ensembles, performers, and artists presenting medieval and Renaissance repertoires.
The program includes a traditional music and dance gathering, performances by emerging early music groups, an evening of poetry and music, guided tours, jam sessions, instrument-building workshops, and social activities for young people, seniors, and disadvantaged groups.
Among the highlighted concerts are performances by Jorge García Martín on the organ (July 17), Capella de Ministrers led by Carles Magraner (July 17), El Bureo (July 18), Al Tayr Ensemble (July 19), Beatriz Lafont & Eduardo Egüez (July 19), and Ensemble Alfonsí (July 19).
The second part of the festival will feature Baroque violinist Alessandro Ciccolini (July 20), Taiwanese group The Gleam Ensemble (July 21), Calíope in an evening of poetry and music (July 21), A Vocal & Marco García de Paz (July 22), and Ensemble Andalusí (July 22). The closing will include Bassa Capella (July 23) and the traditional 'La dansa de la mort'.
In its educational aspect, the festival will offer masterclasses in high choir, flutes, singing, organ, harpsichord, improvised counterpoint, vihuela, viola da gamba, chamber music, theorbo, guitar, violin, percussion, shawm, bagpipes, dance, and body expression, as well as a medieval school for children.
The inauguration will be attended by the mayor of Morella, Bernabé Sangüesa, the Councilor for Culture, Ruth Martínez, and the artistic director, Carles Magraner, on July 17.
This year marks the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi and the 750th anniversary of the passing of James I the Conqueror, anniversaries that will shape this fifteenth edition. Capella de Ministrers will pay tribute to the monarch in the opening concert.
The festival revalidates its European quality seal EFFE, awarded by the European Festivals Association (EFA), recognizing its artistic quality and impact.
