The Civil Guard has arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of a semi-automatic defibrillator valued at 3,000 euros from a public sports facility in Novelda, which has now been recovered.

The medical device, essential for attending to emergencies during sports practice, was stolen from the skating rinks of the municipal sports facilities. Its disappearance not only caused economic damage but also left users of the complex without this vital resource.
The events date back to the afternoon of April 14, when a person forced open the box containing the device and took it. Following the report, agents from the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard of Novelda began the relevant procedures to clarify what happened.

"Citizen collaboration was key to solving the case, as a woman's tip-off allowed the alleged perpetrator to be identified."

Based on this information, investigators managed to identify the alleged perpetrator, a 38-year-old man, a resident of Monforte del Cid with no prior record. Agents went to his home, where they recovered the stolen device and proceeded with his arrest for an alleged crime of theft with force against property.
The defibrillator has already been returned to the municipal authorities, thus restoring its service in the affected sports facilities. The detainee has been released after the preliminary proceedings, and the facts have been brought to the attention of the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Novelda.
