The Civil Guard has dismantled two marijuana plantations in Sax and Petrer, arresting two men as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

The investigation, codenamed “Operation Green Saj”, began last March following complaints from residents of Sax about continuous power outages and voltage surges. Officers located a property with an illegal connection to the electrical grid, which was causing significant harm to other users.
During the investigation, a second suspicious property was detected in Petrer, allegedly linked to the same owner. Surveillance confirmed illicit activity in both residences.
On May 5th, a operation was established, culminating in the entry and search of both homes. In Petrer, a 33-year-old man was arrested, and over 400 marijuana plants were found, many prepared for distribution.
Subsequently, in Sax, a second man, aged 37, was arrested, and nearly 500 plants were discovered inside the residence.
In total, over 900 marijuana plants have been seized, and the existence of illegal electrical connections in both homes has been confirmed. The detainees have been handed over to the judicial authorities in Villena.
