Construction of the new public parking lot in Elda.

The Elda City Council has begun construction of the new public and free parking lot on the grounds of the former Emérito Maestre factory, which will offer 160 spaces.

The Elda City Council has initiated the construction of the new public and free parking lot to be located on the grounds of the former Emérito Maestre factory. The project will provide 160 parking spaces over an area of more than 6,000 square meters and has an execution period of five months.
The project, included in the municipal investment plan "Elda parte de ti", involves the comprehensive transformation of this space to create a new parking area aimed at improving parking availability in the vicinity of the Historic Center. The intervention includes the construction of new internal roads, the installation of permeable pavement to facilitate rainwater drainage, and the implementation of an LED lighting system throughout the premises.
Furthermore, the future parking lot will feature green areas with 68 trees and shrubbery, equipped with drip irrigation, a measure intended by the City Council to reduce the urban heat island effect and enhance the space's urban integration. The necessary pre-installation for future electric vehicle charging points, as well as communication and fire suppression networks, will also be carried out.
The new parking lot will have access from Ópalo and Juan de Austria streets and, according to the local government, will help compensate for the parking spaces that will be lost due to future redevelopment projects planned around the church of Santa Ana and the Castle.
While the works are underway, the City Council will provisionally open up the plot next to the Marina Española medical center to offer a nearby parking alternative for local residents.
With this initiative, the City Council assures it will reach a total of 651 public and free parking spaces created in various parts of the city in recent years. The Councilor for Investments and Public Space, José Antonio Amat, highlighted that the new parking facility will provide space for 160 vehicles just minutes from the Historic Center and framed the project within the municipal strategy for the revitalization and improvement of Elda's neighborhoods.
