The Popular Party members denounce that, more than two years after the ITV's closure, drivers continue to be forced to travel to municipalities such as Novelda, Villena, Elche, or even towns in the Region of Murcia to comply with a mandatory inspection, resulting in higher economic costs, time losses, and long waiting lists.
The PP considers that the situation directly affects more than 100,000 residents, as well as self-employed individuals, transporters, and companies in the region, urging the City Council to accelerate the necessary procedures so that the Generalitat can move forward with the implementation of a new infrastructure.
We expect the local government to provide information on the actions taken, the current status of the file, and the planned deadlines for the Generalitat to continue with the procedure.
The deputy spokesperson for the Popular Municipal Group, Alberto García, has criticized the lack of progress on an issue he considers a priority. He stated that residents have been enduring the consequences of losing an essential service for too long without the local government being able to offer a definitive solution.
García recalled that the government team had announced the provision of a plot in the Finca Lacy industrial estate to house the future ITV, but assures that there is no record of effective progress in the processing. Therefore, he demanded "clarity, transparency, and results" and asked the City Council to report on the actions taken, the current status of the file, and the planned deadlines for the Generalitat to continue with the procedure.
For his part, deputy spokesperson Francisco Vidal has focused on the consequences this situation has for citizens. In his opinion, thousands of drivers must travel outside of Elda to comply with a legal obligation, a circumstance that affects families, workers, and companies who have been waiting two years for a solution.
The PP maintains that the recovery of the ITV must become a priority for the administrations involved, as it is a basic service for the entire region. For this reason, it has publicly requested the local government to detail the actions taken with the Generalitat Valenciana and to expedite the effective transfer of the necessary land so that the competent Ministry can complete the pending administrative procedures and definitively advance the construction of the new ITV station in Elda.
