The National Police and Civil Guard have dismantled a network for cultivating and trafficking marijuana in the towns of Alcoy, Cocentaina, and l'Alqueria d'Asnar, resulting in six arrests and the seizure of over a thousand plants.

The operation, carried out in three phases between February and April, involved 21 entries and searches. Agents arrested six individuals, three men and three women aged between 32 and 41, as alleged perpetrators of drug trafficking and electricity fraud.
The investigation began in late February, following information about potential intensive marijuana cultivation in the area. After weeks of discreet operational activity and data verification, the police intervention was initiated in stages.
In the first phase, two plantations were dismantled in homes in l'Alqueria d'Asnar, where 540 marijuana plants and 240 grams of hashish were seized. A married couple was arrested as responsible. The second phase, in mid-March, led to the arrest of three more individuals and the dismantling of three additional plantations in dilapidated buildings in Alcoy, where nearly 600 plants, five kilos of buds, and dozens of prohibited weapons, including air rifles and tasers, were found.
These plantations featured a sophisticated lighting, ventilation, and irrigation system, with illegal connections to the electricity grid. All dismantled equipment has been transferred for analysis and subsequent destruction. The third and final phase, in early April, led to a country house in Cocentaina, where a woman was arrested, and 127 grams of marijuana and cultivation tools were seized.
In total, the operation has resulted in 21 entries and searches, six arrests, six dismantled indoor plantations, 1,121 marijuana plants, 5.127 kg of marijuana, 270 grams of hashish, several long air weapons, 44 cartridges of .22 caliber, and dozens of prohibited weapons. The investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out.
