The Alcoy City Council has opened the application period for rental housing in the municipal intergenerational building, which is nearing completion in the town.

The call for applications, published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) on April 22, establishes a 20-working-day period for submissions, starting the day after its publication. This building, located on Sant Mateu street in the El Partidor area, aims to foster coexistence among different age groups.
The construction works have received a fourth extension, approved by the Governing Board, setting the new completion date for May 29. Initially, completion was scheduled for last December, but meteorological factors and material supply issues have delayed the project.
The intergenerational building will consist of 18 homes. It is anticipated that about ten of these will be allocated to individuals over 65 years old, while the remaining units will be divided among young people aged 18 to 35. Additionally, discussions are underway with entities working with autonomous individuals with functional diversity for their potential occupancy. There will also be two premises, one of which will serve as the new headquarters for the El Partidor neighborhood association, and the other will be available for cultural or social activities by other entities.
Applications must be registered at the municipal Electronic Headquarters, the General Registry of the City Council, or any other registry provided by law. Evaluation criteria will include income, personal circumstances, and social involvement of applicants, in addition to a personal interview. Rental prices are estimated to range between 210 and 270 euros per month, depending on the size of the dwelling.
The construction of this first intergenerational building in Alcoy was awarded to Media Caña SL for an amount of 1,984,844.53 euros (VAT included). A significant portion of the funding, 721,761.65 euros, comes from the ARAU program of the central and autonomous administrations, with the remainder included in the Plan Edil.
