Last year's budget amounted to 74 million euros, with 94% execution in current expenses and nearly 92% in current revenues. These figures were presented by Mayor Toni Francés and Finance Councillor Vanessa Moltó, highlighting the economic solidity of the council.
“"Yesterday was a bad day for the opposition and today another bad day. But I don't feel bad, because it's a good day for Alcoy, we demonstrate with data that what they say about mismanagement, serious indebtedness… is a lie."
This announcement comes after the three opposition groups voted against the municipal budget, which will lead the mayor to face a vote of confidence next Tuesday. If it is not approved, a one-month period will open for a motion of no confidence; otherwise, the budget will be automatically approved.
Regarding investments, Councillor Vanessa Moltó emphasized that the initial forecast of 5.5 million euros tripled, reaching 16.1 million euros executed thanks to the management of external funds. Mayor Toni Francés added that these resources have been allocated to key projects such as housing improvement, urban renaturalization, sustainable mobility, and alternative energies, totaling 47.5 million euros invested between 2022 and 2025.
The Finance Councillor also defended the revenue management, which closed the fiscal year with 79 million euros, exceeding the forecast of 74 million. This achievement was made while maintaining tax pressure at 448.51 euros per inhabitant, a figure significantly lower than the provincial and national average, which exceeds 600 euros. Furthermore, the council pays suppliers within an average of nine days.
The mayor highlighted the reduction of municipal debt to 50%, well below the 75% threshold considered “bearable” by regulations. He recalled that, under the previous PP government, the Alcoy City Council reached a critical debt level of 108%. Current management has allowed the council to pass the test of executing European funds, sanitizing the city council and positioning the city advantageously for the period until 2030.
