Patients and therapists from the Bétera Mental Health Hospital have participated in a forest conservation day at the Center for Forest Research and Experimentation (CIEF), promoted by the Third Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Environment, Infrastructures and Territory, to foster comprehensive recovery through contact with nature.

The connection between nature and emotional well-being has been the focus of a forest conservation activity organized by the Third Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Environment, Infrastructures, Territory and Recovery. This event involved patients and therapists from the Bétera Mental Health Hospital, which is managed by the Diputación de València.
The initiative took place at the Center for Forest Research and Experimentation (CIEF), where participants gained firsthand knowledge of the work carried out in natural environment conservation. Additionally, they engaged in practical activities related to planting and caring for various plant species.
This day is part of a rehabilitative care model that aims to improve support for individuals with mental illnesses by incorporating new therapeutic tools. In this context, contact with the natural environment and participation in environmental activities are consolidated as complementary resources that promote the comprehensive recovery of patients.
During the visit, the group toured various areas of the center, learning about the main lines of work at CIEF, including forest seed conservation, protection of endangered flora, and forest plant production. Technical staff emphasized the importance of preserving plant biodiversity and the center's role in the recovery of native species from the Valencian Community.
As a central part of the day, participants took part in a practical workshop on planting seeds of various Mediterranean and agricultural species, such as the European fan palm (Chamaerops humilis), melon (Cucumis melo), narrow-leaved ash (Fraxinus angustifolia), and bladder senna (Colutea hispanica). This activity allowed them to learn about the sowing process and the necessary care for plant growth, directly engaging in an experience linked to caring for the natural environment.
