This initiative is part of the upcoming third campaign to exhume mass graves at the site. The project is supported by a new collaboration agreement between the local council and the Provincial Council of Valencia to conduct archaeological work on the ground.
However, a funding limitation has been identified, as the tender specifications only cover the excavation. To prevent the process from being left incomplete, the local administration has announced it will use municipal funds to cover historical research, anthropological studies, and genetic identification tests.
Municipal authorities have emphasized that the priority is to guarantee the families' right to recover their loved ones. Therefore, the cooperation of descendants who have not yet provided biological samples in previous campaigns is essential.
