The Roman Theater of Sagunto will see its capacity expanded and benefit from new improvements through an intervention promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities alongside the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC).

The Generalitat has allocated over six million euros to actions already executed and planned for the Castle, the Roman Theater, and other spaces linked to the Monumental Complex of Sagunto. The objective of this investment is to ensure their preservation, enhance safety, and promote their cultural use. This investment includes multi-year contracts for educational and cultural offerings, reinforced surveillance, maintenance works, and structural improvements.
The Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC) has held technical meetings to recover approximately 250 additional seats for the upcoming Sagunt a Escena 2026 festival. The planned intervention will address water leakage issues in public access areas, enable six existing restrooms in the upper part of the venue, and improve evacuation conditions in the upper cavea, a factor that limits the theater's capacity due to specific safety regulations.
These actions complement improvements carried out by Culture during 2024, focusing on access sanitation, construction of stairs in the vomitoria, partial renovation of restrooms, undergrounding of the electrical connection, installation of safety nets, and repair of railings. The IVC's investment in the conditioning of the Roman Theater of Sagunto will reach 150,000 euros, with additional expenses for lighting replacement and new technical reports.

The General Directorate of Cultural Heritage maintains a global intervention strategy that integrates heritage conservation with its cultural and tourist projection, aiming to improve visiting conditions and ensure the preservation of one of the main heritage and cultural references of the Valencian Community.

The General Directorate of Cultural Heritage is processing a service contract tender for technical assistance in interventions at the Roman Theater of Sagunto, the Castle of Sagunto, and the Workshop Nave. A tender for drafting projects to intervene in the Roman Theater, focusing on roof and installation repairs, is also in progress.
In parallel, a tender for maintenance work on buildings assigned to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage is being processed. This contract includes the conservation of the Roman Theater of Sagunto, the Castle of Sagunto, the Archaeological Museum of Sagunto, and the Workshop Nave, with a budget exceeding 1.4 million euros. Additionally, a project is being drafted for intervention in the former Military Museum of the Castle to rehabilitate it as a public service area, cafeteria, and castle services, with a projected investment of 1.5 million euros.
