The Department of Citizen Participation of the Sagunto City Council has opened the submission period for investment proposals for the 2027 Participatory Budgets, an initiative that will allocate 500,000 euros to citizen projects.

From April 15th until May 31st, Sagunto residents over 16 years old registered before March 15th, as well as registered organizations, can submit up to three investment proposals. The main objective is to improve the quality of life of citizens, the common good, public spaces, solidarity, and coexistence in the neighborhoods.
Proposals must be within municipal competence, clear, understandable, technically and legally viable, and their execution must be able to start in 2027. Furthermore, they must be economically and environmentally sustainable, and consistent with the functional uses of the facilities. Activities, services, subsidies, or non-inventoriable material will not be accepted, but rather durable investments such as equipment or infrastructure.

"This project is a key tool to continue building the city through the direct involvement of our neighbors. These types of initiatives are key because they give a voice to citizens to make decisions that affect the model of city where we want to live."

María Rubio · Councillor for Citizen Participation
Once the submission phase concludes, from June 10th to September 10th, the technical staff of the Sagunto City Council will study the viability of the projects. Subsequently, citizens can vote on the validated proposals from September 15th to 30th. All individuals over 16 years old registered before August 15th can participate in the voting by registering on the municipal website platform.
The voting process will allow selecting as many options as desired until the total budget of 500,000 euros is exhausted. The mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, and Councillor María Rubio presented this call, highlighting the importance of citizen participation for municipal management and raising awareness about residents' priorities.
