The Sagunto Local Police have thwarted the theft of a delivery van loaded with packages on Doctor Palos avenue, recovering all merchandise and arresting the main suspect after a pursuit.

The incident occurred last Wednesday morning when a delivery driver alerted officers. While making a delivery at a nearby home, an individual accessed his vehicle, which had the keys in the ignition, and drove off with it. The Local Police received the alert and disseminated the information to units on duty.
A key element in resolving the case was that the delivery driver had left his mobile phone inside the van. This allowed officers to track the device and locate the vehicle on a road near the CV-314, between Sagunto and Petrés. Upon arrival, the van was open with several packages stacked, but the alleged perpetrator was no longer there.
Minutes later, a patrol detected a car with three occupants approaching suspiciously. Noticing the police presence, the vehicle sped away, initiating a pursuit. The chase ended on Camino de la Font de Ribera, where the car became immobilized after suffering a broken engine sump and a burst tire.
The three occupants abandoned the car and fled on foot, but officers managed to identify the driver, who has since been arrested. The investigation remains open to locate the other two individuals involved. The delivery driver was able to recover both the van and all the packages it was transporting. The vehicle used in the escape was taken to the municipal depot and placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
The Local Police emphasized the importance of this intervention, which not only prevented the loss of the vehicle and merchandise but also the economic and logistical consequences it would have entailed for the recipients, the worker, and the affected courier company.
