This action responds to a long-standing citizen request, primarily driven by the La Victoria Neighborhood Association and supported by Iniciativa Porteña. The demand dates back to 2018, when Sagunt was declared an age-friendly city, and seeks to mitigate issues of incivility in the streets near event areas.
The new restrooms will be located in the southwest wing of the Municipal Market, in the patio area facing La Glorieta, near the corner with Joaquín Rodrigo Street. Currently, this space is occupied by a disused warehouse and changing rooms, which will be demolished to redistribute the spaces.
The project includes the creation of three restrooms: one for women, one for men, and one adapted for people with reduced mobility, all with renovated facilities and equipment. Access will be changed from the patio to Cronista Chabret Square, with a separate door for each service. Additionally, coatings, pavements, interior carpentry, drainage and water supply networks, electrical and lighting installations, and facades will be renovated.
The men's restroom will have two stalls with toilets and a double sink. The women's will feature three stalls, each with a toilet and a double sink. The adapted restroom for people with reduced mobility will have the same equipment but will be individual and include a special design for accessibility, a reclinable mirror, two folding grab bars, and an assistance call device.
The contracting will be carried out through the Dynamic Acquisition System, a mechanism that streamlines and simplifies procedures for frequent interventions. The execution period for the work is planned for three months.
