The municipality of Faura becomes a hub for contemporary dance with the celebration of the Habitar festival, now in its seventh edition under the theme 'Cohabiting'.

From June 28 to July 12, Faura will host a comprehensive program including performances, workshops, and community activities. The event, driven by the local collective Hort Art, explores the relationships between body, territory, and coexistence, aiming to foster new reflections on the forms of existence in contemporary society.
The showcase will bring together artists from Brazil, the United States, the Canary Islands, Andalusia, Catalonia, Argentina, the Valencian Community, and the Community of Madrid. Featured works include creations by Margô Assis, Eugênio Paccelli Horta, and Renata Ferreira, who will inaugurate the festival with an artistic residency and various urban intervention pieces. Also participating are the duo M (Jeremy Nelson and Luis A. Lara Malvacías), Qualia (Teresa Lorenzo), El Cuerpo Tartamudeante en la Proximidad de un Signo Futuro (Valeria Polorena and Sebastian Morell), Una cosa ligera (collective Taller Placer), Alien (Manuel Rodríguez), and Extracción (Poliana Lima).
Under the theme 'Cohabiting', the festival emphasizes the need to generate new spaces, environments, and rhythms to analyze contemporary society. According to Alexsandro Guerra and Pere Bodí, 'cohabiting means recognizing that we always exist in relation to other bodies, memories, rhythms, and environments'. The showcase presents this coexistence not from an idea of harmony, but from complexity and difference, seeking to create shared spaces for listening, attention, and experimentation.
Performative arts take center stage, with proposals spanning contemporary dance, performance, and site-specific practices. The shows will explore themes such as perception, memory, identity, community, and the transformation of bodies.
In addition to stage creations, HABITAR strengthens its community dimension through open workshops focusing on cooperation, conscious movement, traditional dances, and collective practices. The program also includes a meeting of Valencian traditional dances with the Rondalla Arnadí, a communal dinner, and activities to foster citizen participation.
The festival maintains its commitment to professional training with a workshop led by Jeremy Nelson and Luis A. Lara Malvacías, focusing on thought processes, creation, and interpretation. The event is sponsored by the Faura City Council and the Institut Valencià de Cultura.
