The Secretary of State for Transport and Mobility has requested data from the Elche City Council regarding bus lines R10 and R11 to advance feasibility studies for a new train stop in Elche Business Park.

This requirement, received this week, confirms that studies for the implementation of a new Cercanías (commuter rail) station in the economic enclave are underway. The Ministry of Transport, through its Secretary of State, is seeking detailed information on the demand for the lines connecting the urban center with Elche Business Park, Torrellano, and the airport.
The request includes passenger evolution, displacement matrices between stops, and user volume per stop, data that will be incorporated into the technical analysis. According to the Elche City Council, the R11 line recorded 597,463 journeys in its first year, representing 33% of the total users of the service to the districts, while the R10 line reached 284,527 trips, 16% of the total.
The General Directorate of the Railway Sector is developing the work for drafting the feasibility studies. This initiative is part of a contract tendered at the end of 2024 for 332,750 euros, which seeks to analyze the possibility of establishing stop points on existing sections to strengthen railway mobility and connectivity, improving social cohesion and solving mobility problems.
The project for Elche is part of a package that also includes a stop in Almussafes for the C2 line of Valencia Cercanías, another in Seseña for the C-3 Madrid Cercanías line, and a final one in Fuencarral-Norte for the C-4 Cercanías line.
