The Local Police of Elche have arrested four minors for an alleged crime against railway safety, after they were caught placing objects on the train tracks of the Alicante-Murcia line, preventing a possible accident.

The incident occurred on a railway section located on the Camino de las Canteras, in the Altabix area, where the youths had deposited various items such as a shopping cart, a manhole cover, and rocks on the tracks. This action posed a significant risk to train circulation.
The police operation began after a tip-off alerted them to the presence of the minors in the area. Upon arrival, officers located them on a nearby bridge. Upon detecting the police presence, the minors attempted to flee, but rapid coordination between several patrols allowed for their interception and the securing of the area.
During the escape attempt, one of the individuals suffered a fall and had to be taken to a health center for medical attention. After inspecting the scene, officers contacted Adif technicians and railway control centers, who confirmed the seriousness of the situation and the potential danger it posed to trains.
The swift and effective intervention by the Local Police was crucial in preventing a possible accident on a section with regular commuter train traffic. The minors were taken to police facilities and subsequently reunited with their parents or legal guardians.
