This project, valued at 4.1 million euros, aims to resolve the traffic problems experienced by thousands of Elche CF fans every two weeks, as well as attendees of the Sunday market. Ten companies have submitted bids to undertake the intervention, suggesting strong competition and potentially a reduction in the final price.
Among the bidders are the UTE Acsa y Bertolín, ASCH Infraestructuras y Servicios, another UTE with Alcudia Servicios y Obras, Involucra and José Savall Ronda, CHM Obras e Infraestructuras, an alliance with Eiffage Infraestructuras and Obras y Servicios P. Selva, Obrascon Huarte Lain, the Valencian company Pavasal, Tecopsa, and two additional UTEs formed by Grulop 21, AFC Construcciones y Contratas, and Inexo, and by Guerola Infraestructuras and Guerola Áridos Y Hormigones.
The Elche City Council anticipates that the works could begin in June, once the football season concludes, to avoid disruptions. The estimated execution period is five months. The project's processing has been expedited thanks to an ordinance approved in December, although a year-long wait was necessary to obtain approval from the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) due to the San Antón ravine.
The intervention involves the duplication of Manuel Martínez Valero and José Esquitino Sempere avenues for approximately 500 meters each, along with the construction of two large roundabouts to distribute traffic. In addition to improving stadium access on match days, the project also seeks to modernize the image of the stadium's surroundings, which was inaugurated in 1976.
The financing of the work will be proportionally distributed among the landowners: the municipal administration will cover 41.27%, Elche CF 15.04%, the Urban Interest Group (AIU) of residential sector E-24 23.49%, and the commercial entity Astonquer 20.20%. This duplication is crucial for the development of sector E-24 and for the potential execution of a leisure center by Astonquer.
