The Elche City Council has planted nearly 2,500 trees in more than fifty streets across neighborhoods and rural districts since 2023, as part of its strategy to renaturalize the city and expand green areas.

This initiative has been carried out in various parts of the municipality with the aim of improving the urban environment and increasing the presence of trees in public spaces. Among the streets where the most recent plantings have taken place are Ruperto Chapí and Arbres Street.

"The City Council maintains its commitment to increasing the number of trees in the city."

Pablo Ruz · Mayor of Elche
The mayor of Elche, Pablo Ruz, highlighted the council's commitment to this policy. As an example, he mentioned José García Fernández Street, where, he explained, before its comprehensive renovation «there was not a single tree».
Ruz also assured that the City Council will continue with this course of action in the coming weeks, with new plantings planned for streets such as Cristóbal Sanz and Doctor Ferrán.
According to the government team, these interventions are part of the municipal commitment to sustainability and the improvement of the urban landscape, with the intention of making the city more livable and with a greater presence of shade and vegetation in all neighborhoods and rural districts.
