The Councillor for Public Spaces, Claudio Guilabert, reported that three companies have already submitted bids for this contract. The goal is for the works to begin next June. In Pla-Sector V, improvement and modernization work will be carried out on at least twenty streets, while the location of interventions in rural districts is still being studied.
“"It is a commitment of this municipal government to continue modernizing public spaces in neighborhoods and rural districts."
Guilabert emphasized that during 2026, sidewalk improvement works are mainly focused on Pla-Sector V and the Altabix neighborhood, addressing a historical demand from residents. He recalled that similar actions have already been carried out in areas such as Carrús, El Raval, or Raval de Santa Teresa.
Furthermore, the Local Government Board this Thursday approved the release of more than 2 million euros from the municipal surplus. These funds will be used to pay for certifications of works, services, and supplies from previous fiscal years, specifically from 2025 or earlier. One part corresponds to 13 files worth 353,000 euros, and another to 16 files totaling over 1.7 million euros, including the bus service contract.
Additionally, it was agreed to request two subsidies from the General Directorate of Labora Valencian Employment and Training Service. One, with a maximum amount of 750,000 euros, is intended for the hiring of unemployed women, preferably over 45 years old. The other, for the same amount, seeks to hire unemployed individuals under 30 years old.
Finally, at the same meeting, the request for two subsidies from the Alicante Provincial Council was approved. These aids will be dedicated to sterilization treatments for the control of urban cat colonies without owners and to control treatments for diptera in the municipality. Spokesperson Inma Mora noted that in the previous call, 12,000 and 14,500 euros were granted, respectively, for these purposes.
