The Elche City Council, through the Department of Childhood, Family, and Seniors, will hold a gala on June 5, 2026, at the Gran Teatro de Elche to honor residents turning 90 years old this year.
This special event, starting at 10:30 AM, aims to recognize the contribution of a generation that has witnessed and played a key role in the city's history and societal evolution. The initiative highlights the value of seniors who have helped build the community through their work and families.
“
"With this event, we want to recognize the life journey of an entire generation that has been a witness and protagonist of Elche's history and how society has evolved, which today recognizes the value of seniors who have helped build it with their work and families."
During the gala, a commemorative video will be screened, reviewing the main events experienced by this generation, followed by a generic distinction for the honorees. Additionally, there will be musical performances by Yolanda García's flamenco company and the castanets artist Sonia de la Cámara.
Registrations for this tribute will begin next Monday, May 4, and will remain open until May 20. Interested individuals must have been born in 1936 and be registered in Elche. To register, they should send an email to mayores@elche.es with the subject '90 años', attaching a recent photograph and a youth photograph for projection during the event.
The body of the email must include their full name, DNI, two contact phone numbers, specify if they have reduced mobility or require any support, and brief notable information about their life, such as place of birth, profession, or achievements and anecdotes. Once the registration period ends, participants will be contacted in order of application to confirm attendance, and the number of companions will depend on the capacity of the Gran Teatro.

"It will be a very emotional tribute that they should not miss, because our seniors have done so much for us, and it is time to give them back a little of all they have given us."
The councilor has encouraged all those turning 90 this year to register, with the help of their families, to participate in this significant recognition.
