Elche CF finds itself in the La Liga relegation zone after matchday 31, despite securing a derby win against Valencia CF, due to a crucial goal scored by Lucas Boyé in a different fixture.

Elche CF's victory over Valencia CF was not enough to lift them out of the relegation zone on matchday 31. A goal by former Elche player Lucas Boyé for Deportivo Alavés against Real Sociedad allowed his team to secure a vital point, pushing the Alicante-based club into the bottom spots.
Nevertheless, the team led by Eder Sarabia is only one point away from safety, with their fate in their own hands. Coincidentally, Deportivo Alavés is the team currently marking the safety line, and Elche CF is set to host them at the Martínez Valero stadium in a month's time, in what promises to be a decisive match.

It is estimated that survival could require between 41 and 42 points, meaning the 'franjiverdes' will need to win at least three of their remaining seven matches. Their schedule includes hosting Atlético de Madrid, visiting Real Oviedo and Celta de Vigo, facing Alavés again at Martínez Valero, visiting Real Betis, hosting Getafe CF, and concluding the season at Montilivi against Girona FC.
The team has three home games and four away. The victory in the regional derby matched their record of seven home wins from the 2021/22 season, their second-best historical tally. However, Elche CF remains the worst home team in La Liga, having secured only four points out of a possible 45, with four draws and eleven defeats.
The upcoming matchday 33, which will be played before matchday 32 due to the Copa del Rey final, will feature games such as Real Madrid-Alavés, Mallorca-Valencia, Levante UD-Sevilla, and Rayo-RCD Espanyol, in addition to Elche-Atlético.
