The crucial alert came unexpectedly: a person traveling on a bus towards Madrid spotted the dangerous situation and notified the officers, which allowed for a rapid and effective intervention.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a very small dog, a chihuahua-pomeranian mix, trapped inside the fountain. The animal could not get out and was in a risky situation, both from possible drowning and hypothermia, which required quick action.
“"The intervention was possible thanks to the citizen's alert, which allowed the problem to be detected in time. This citizen-police partnership was decisive in preventing a much worse outcome."
Although the rescue was successfully resolved, it now remains to be clarified how the animal ended up in that situation. Officers have initiated an investigation to determine if it was an accident or if there could be some type of animal abuse behind it.
Finally, the dog has been returned to its owner, who was looking for it after it had escaped. The outcome has been the best possible: the animal is safe and sound, concluding an intervention that highlighted the importance of acting in time and citizen collaboration.
