Elche CF has announced the contract renewal of Carlos Cuéllar as coach of its reserve team, Elche Ilicitano, until June 2028. This decision comes as a reward for achieving permanence in Segunda Federación.

The 'franjiverde' club confirmed this Friday Cuéllar's continuity at the helm of the second team, following a season where the squad showed notable improvement, especially in the second half of the season. The team even fielded four youth players simultaneously on several occasions.
The Ilicitano finished the first half of the season in relegation spots, five points from safety. However, with a young squad and winter reinforcements like forward Juan Piera and winger Álex Sánchez, the reserve team managed to turn the situation around.
With this renewal, Elche aims to provide continuity to the work done, maintain competitiveness in Segunda Federación, and continue developing young talents for the first team. The reserve team will compete in Group 3, alongside teams from the Valencian Community, the Region of Murcia, and the Balearic Islands.
Elche Ilicitano finished the 2025/26 season in twelfth place with 41 points, standing out as one of the youngest squads in the category. The club highlights the reserve team's growth thanks to the work of the technical staff and players, which has allowed several academy players to participate with the first team.
