Candidates for Queen and Ladies of Elche's 2026 Festivities gather in Murcia

A total of 31 aspirants participate in activities and interviews for their selection, accompanied by local authorities.

The 31 candidates for Senior Queen and Ladies of Elche's 2026 Festivities are participating this weekend in a gathering in Murcia, a preliminary event to the election process to get to know them better.

The day includes the presence of the Councillor for Festivities, Inma Mora, as well as the presidents of the Gestora de Festejos Populares, Fernando Jaén, and of the Unió de Festers del Camp d’Elx, Andrés Coves. Saturday's program begins at 10:00 AM with an institutional reception at the Palacio Almudí.
Afterward, the candidates will take a guided tour of various city landmarks, including the City Hall, the Cathedral, the wall, the Verónicas Market, and the Real Casino. Additionally, they will attend the cutting of the giant 'arroz con costra' in the Plaza del Teatro Romea.
In the afternoon, the aspirants will attend a concert by the Elche Symphonic Band in the Plaza de los Apóstoles. The agenda also includes a visit to module 2 of the old prison and the exhibition by Jaume Plensa. Dinner will be held in module 1 of the old prison, and afterward, they will enjoy a comedian's performance.
Throughout the weekend, various activities, group dynamics, and interviews are conducted to allow the jury to assess the candidates' performance. The jury is chaired by the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Irene Ruiz, and is completed by the delegate of the FASFI Foundation in the Valencian Community, Juanjo Briones; the magistrate and member of the Governing Chamber of the TSJCV, M. José Boix; the businesswoman from Grupo Serrano Automoción, Nunci Serrano; and the deputy director of Nursing at the General Hospital of Elche, M. José Colomina.
Also participating in this gathering are the Senior Queen of the 2025 Festivities, Nuria Tejero Adsuar, and the Senior Ladies, Marta Martínez Ruiz Ruiz and Claudia Cámara Araújo. The festive calendar will continue on May 8 with the gala parade in Traspalacio. Later, on June 6, the election ceremony for the Queen and Ladies of Elche's 2026 Festivities will be held in the Rotonda del Parque Municipal, where the candidates will parade solely in traditional festive attire. The proclamation will take place on June 27 in the Plaza de Baix.
