The city of Torrevieja is preparing to celebrate International Dance Day 2026 with a varied program including workshops, performances, and a dance marathon, from April 24 to 26.
The Culture Councilor of the Torrevieja City Council has presented the program, organized by the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Municipal Academic Dance School. The main objective is to encourage participation and bring dance closer to all citizens, with activities aimed at all audiences.
“
"We have prepared a series of performances, activities, and workshops for all ages, with the aim of bringing dance to all citizens and achieving the greatest possible participation."
Among the highlighted activities are contemporary dance and Spanish dance workshops, which will take place at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center. These workshops are designed for students aged nine and older and will be taught by professionals such as Eva Mora and María Cabrera, who will offer sessions at different levels throughout the weekend.
“
"We have teachers who have trained in Torrevieja and are now developing their careers nationally and internationally, which allows us to highlight the work done in our academies."
On Saturday, April 25, the Municipal Theater will host a performance by the Spanish Ballet of Murcia, directed by Carmen and Matilde Rubio, at 8:30 PM. On Sunday, April 26, one of the most anticipated events will be the traditional street dance marathon at the Natural Pools of Paseo Juan Aparicio, featuring the participation of 14 local academies.
As a novelty this year, the event will include a massive ballet barre open to the public, an initiative that has been very well received by participating academies. Additionally, the day will begin with the reading of the International Dance Day manifesto, reinforcing its commemorative nature. The program is consolidating itself as one of the most participatory cultural events on the local calendar.
