The Orihuela City Council has launched the tender for the new contract for the cleaning service of municipal buildings and educational centers, with a total investment of 20.7 million euros for the next five years.

This initiative represents an annual investment exceeding 4.1 million euros and its main objective is to provide stability to a service considered essential for the daily operation of public facilities in the locality.
The council has reported that the contract seeks to ensure the adequate maintenance of properties and the quality of services received by residents. The Infrastructure councilor highlighted that the new award will allow for the regularization of the service's situation, offering a stable framework, legal guarantees, and adapted to the current needs of the municipality.
The tender specifications include the cleaning of almost all municipal buildings, including administrative dependencies, educational centers, sports facilities, and other public spaces. This covers the cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and outdoor areas linked to these properties.
The service will be structured with daily, weekly, and periodic tasks, with response capacity for extraordinary needs or specific events, depending on the actual use of each facility. More than 135,000 annual cleaning hours have been planned.
Furthermore, the future concessionaire company must assume the subrogation of the current workforce, consisting of approximately 90 workers, with the possibility of reinforcements if necessary. The contract also incorporates social clauses, such as the obligation to hire people from vulnerable groups, and demands regarding quality, sustainability, and flexibility to adapt to future needs of the municipality.
