The Orihuela City Council has awarded a 117,854 euro contract for the installation of awnings to create a sustainable cultural itinerary, improving thermal comfort in the city's old town.

The municipal corporation of Orihuela has formalized the contract award for the acquisition and installation of awnings. This action is part of the municipality's Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination and its main objective is the creation of a sustainable cultural itinerary.
The company responsible for carrying out the project is Monstera Design SL, with an amount of 117,854 euros and a maximum execution period of two months. The purpose is to establish a cultural route that incorporates shaded areas, which will contribute to improving thermal comfort in the urban environment and making the visit more pleasant for residents and tourists.
The awnings will be installed specifically in the vicinity of the Ociopía shopping center. Here, a key meeting point will be set up for guided tours heading to the city's old town. The total area planned for this intervention is 647 square meters.
This initiative is part of the municipal strategy to strengthen the tourist offer and optimize the experience of visitors exploring Orihuela's heritage, especially during the warmer months. The project is funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and is covered by European Union funds through the Next Generation EU program.
