The municipality of Rafal has inaugurated the first phase of improvements to its Municipal Sports Center, featuring a 200-meter athletics track, a caliche court, and a children's playground, all connected by a walkway.

The Rafal City Council inaugurated the new facilities at the Municipal Sports Center yesterday afternoon, equipping the complex with a new athletics track, a specific area for Caliche, and a children's playground. These new areas are connected by a pedestrian walkway and include a water fountain, expanding the sports, family, and community uses of this space.
The project, carried out by the company Involucra with an investment of 204,450.55 euros (VAT included), is part of the municipal commitment to modernize the Sports Center and create new outdoor spaces. The athletics track has 200 meters of circumference and six lanes, an improvement aimed at promoting physical activity. The Caliche area reinforces a traditional practice rooted in the municipality, and the playground completes the development with a new space for families.
The works were primarily funded by the Plan Planifica of the Provincial Council of Alicante (174,528.70 euros), with the Rafal City Council covering the remainder, including the 21,403.39 euros for the playground from its own funds. The mayor, Noemí Cutillas, highlighted that the inauguration represents a significant step in improving facilities and creating spaces for the entire population, enhancing sports and family activities.
The day concluded with the Sports Festival, featuring activities such as athletics, gymkhana, and Caliche, with the involvement of local clubs. Recognition was also given to outstanding athletes of the 2025/2026 season.
The Councilor for Sports, Gabriel Valero, noted that the new facilities diversify the use of the Sports Center, opening it further to the public and allowing clubs, families, and individuals engaged in physical activity to enjoy them.
