During this period, the office initiated 102 new case files, with approximately 90% of these corresponding to women. Additionally, 236 victims with existing files from previous years continued to receive attention, totaling 193 criminal acts recorded, predominantly related to gender violence.
The service also offered direct assistance to victims without open files, highlighting its essential role in immediate guidance and support to citizens. This activity reflects a significant increase in demand, with 258 victims attended in January 2026 alone, representing a 27% rise compared to the 203 cases registered in the same month of the previous year.
The OAVD of Orihuela boasts a multidisciplinary team comprising four professionals from legal, psychological, and social work fields, ensuring comprehensive care for those affected by crimes. This office is one of the busiest in the Valencian Community outside provincial capitals, which led to its reinforcement in 2024 with the addition of an extra professional.
Coordination with the Comprehensive Forensic Assessment Unit of Elche and the Orihuela Regional Psychosocial Cabinet guarantees specialized and accessible care. The Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Participation remains committed to improving victim assistance and adapting available resources to the real needs of the service, aiming to provide complete, accessible, and high-quality support.
