María Gómez, a deputy from the Popular Parliamentary Group in Les Corts, highlighted that the commencement of these works to renovate the access roads to the Vega Baja Hospital in Orihuela "is an action that directly improves the lives of thousands of residents in the region and demonstrates that the Consell is giving the Vega Baja the attention it deserves." This involves an investment exceeding one million euros aimed at reinforcing road safety, enhancing accessibility, and streamlining travel to one of the region's primary healthcare centers.
"The improvement of access to the Vega Baja Hospital benefits patients, families, healthcare professionals, and users daily. It's about making life easier for people, reducing travel times, and ensuring greater safety in a particularly sensitive environment," she stated.
The popular deputy explained that this project continues the measures promoted by the Generalitat to improve mobility in the Vega Baja. Just a few days ago, the new Vega Baja-Alicante bus corridor became operational, enhancing connections to the hospital and other essential services. Now, the Consell is taking another step by also improving access for those using private vehicles or public transport.
In this regard, Gómez emphasized that the works include widening the roadway and sidewalks, improving lighting, adding pedestrian crossings, and creating bus bays. "These are actions that will increase safety, improve traffic flow, and facilitate the passage of ambulances in emergency situations," she affirmed.
These infrastructure investments in the area will soon be joined by the expansion works of the CV-95 between Orihuela and Torrevieja, which are currently in the bidding phase. According to Gómez, these examples are the result of "a Consell that listens, plans, and invests. The Vega Baja is improving its public services after years of demands that are finally being met."
