The Civil Guard has arrested a 26-year-old man in Callosa de Segura as the alleged perpetrator of an intentional fire, robbery with violence, and threats with a firearm.

The events date back to May 11, when a fire broke out, destroying several vehicles and affecting two homes. Residents had to take refuge on the second floor after being trapped by smoke, a situation that put the lives of minors and elderly people at risk. Investigations by the Civil Guard of Valencia's forensics department confirmed that the fire was intentional.
The investigation took a turn on May 25, when reports were received about an individual threatening pedestrians with a firearm and using two trained dogs to attack. Given the severity of the situation, a special operation was deployed involving patrols from the Civil Guard, the Local Police, and the USECIC of Torrevieja.
Cornered, the suspect attempted to flee through the mountains but was intercepted and arrested by officers the same day. The man, who has a criminal record, has been placed at the disposal of the Instruction Section of the Orihuela Court of Instance, which has ordered his imprisonment.
