Guardamar del Segura has initiated the development of its new Strategic Tourism Plan, after closing 2025 with the best international visitor figures in its history, showing a 29.2% growth.

The process for creating this new plan was presented at the Interdepartmental Technical Commission. The municipal Smart Office outlined the master lines of a roadmap that will guide the destination's tourism direction in the coming years. The City Council aims to adapt its model to changing demands, incorporate new digital tools, and meet regulatory requirements for sustainability.
During the session, an activity report for 2025 and the results of a satisfaction survey among residents were also presented. All this information is available in the section known as Transparent Tourism. Furthermore, a new study on lodged demand has been announced, with surveys now available in the municipality's tourist establishments.
The council also reviewed the execution status of the current Smart Destination Strategic Plan 2022-2026. According to municipal data, 26% of the planned actions are currently underway, largely due to their alignment with the Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination.
The strategy update will now continue with new meetings between municipal departments and sector agents. In this context, the Municipal Tourism Advisory Council will be convened soon to incorporate business perspectives and move towards a more participatory governance model.
